Robert Greubel grew up in Alsace/France and began his horological career precociously by observing and working with his watchmaker father in the family shop, Greubel Horlogerie. In 1987, after undertaking study in complications, Robert moved to Switzerland to join IWC. There he worked on the development of their Grand Complication.
In 1990 Robert joined Renaud & Papi SA as a prototypist working on projects in the field of complicated watchmaking and went on to become joint managing director and a partner of Renaud & Papi.
Robert left R&P in 1999 to work independently. In 2001, he founded Complitime SA in partnership with Stephen Forsey. Complitime is a company dedicated to developing complicated movements for prestigious brands.
In 2004, after years of development, Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey launched their own brand, 'Greubel Forsey', with the presentation of their 1st Fundamental Invention, the acclaimed Double Tourbillion 30°.
